Subject: Campbell IT Services Alert – Rise in Phishing Emails Targeting Student Accounts

Dear Students,

We want to alert you that our campus has seen a recent increase in phishing and spam emails targeting student accounts.
These emails may:
•         Pretend to come from trusted contacts—even fake Campbell University email addresses.
•         Try to trick you into clicking harmful links or sharing sensitive information like passwords or login codes.
How You Can Protect Yourself
Please keep the following best practices in mind:
•         Inspect the sender’s email address closely—watch for misspelled names or strange domains.
•         Never click suspicious links or open unexpected attachments, even if the message looks familiar.
•         Report phishing directly from Gmail:
o    Click the three vertical dots (︙) next to the message.
o    Select “Report phishing” or “Report spam.”

These scams are evolving—and even the most technology savvy students can get caught off guard. We’ll continue to notify and remind the campus of trends and protective actions to help keep everyone informed and secure.
