On behalf of the Office of Clinical Affairs:

With Dr. Tolentino's recent appointment to Interim Dean, there have been some changes to some positions in the Department of Clinical Affairs and CUSOM's organizational structure. We hope you find the following helpful.

By alphabetical order,

Robert Agnello, DO has been appointed Clinical Chair of Family Medicine. In this role, he will serve as the head of the Family Medicine Department, a role filled by Nicholas Pennings, DO for many years, who has recently stepped down to continue in a part-time role with the Health Center seeing patients virtually in their Obesity Medicine program. Dr. Agnello will advise students interested in pursuing Family Medicine as a career specialty and will continue his role teaching in the CUSOM curriculum, including in the topics of the Opioid curriculum, which is his clinical interest.

Amanda Baright, DO has been appointed interim Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Affairs. This position was created and now falls under the purview of Clinical Affairs. In this role, she will work with Clinical Affairs and third- and fourth-year students as it applies towards professional development and career planning. She will continue in her role as Clinical Chair for Surgery, which includes advising students who are interested in Anesthesiology, Dermatology, and all the surgical specialties. Dr. Baright will also assist the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO), who will continue to work with those GME programs in which CUSOM is the Sponsoring Institution. The DIO position will be named soon.

James Cappola, MD has been appointed interim Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs. This position was also created and sits in Clinical Affairs at the same level as the above named, interim Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Affairs. In this role, he will aid with the design and implementation of the year three and four curriculum and helps identify and assess clinical teaching sites. This position also includes a supervisory role of the clinical department chairs. Dr. Cappola will continue in his role as Clinical Chair for Internal Medicine, advising students who are interested in pursuing Internal Medicine as a career specialty.

Tiffany Lowe-Clayton, DO has been appointed Vice-Chair of Family Medicine. In this role, she will assist the Clinical Chair of Family Medicine with advising those students interested in pursuing Family Medicine as a career specialty. She will also continue in the position of Director of Clinical Site Engagement and Development; a position created in Clinical Affairs earlier this year in which she works with the Director of Professional Development to create and implement programs focused on best practices in medical education and builds relationships with community partners and chairs to enhance educational opportunities for students. She will continue her role teaching in the CUSOM curriculum, including in the topic of Obesity Medicine, which is her clinical interest.
