Greetings, Class of 2028!
This monthly newsletter highlights key dates, programming, and upcoming opportunities to support your personal, professional, and academic success.
NO CLASSES ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 in observance of LABOR DAY Holiday. Enjoy!
Just a reminder that Hakem Saeed is your student class representative serving on the CUSOM Holistic Student Support Committee! If you have questions, ideas, concerns related to student support, the newsletter, and other activities supported by this committee, we encourage you to contact Hakem.
* Weekly Student Drop-In Sessions Hosted by Peer Learning Partners (optional attendance, students only) in ACE Center—Levine 106
* No need to sign up—just “drop by” on Thursdays (see detailed schedule in ACE Blackboard for times each week)
* Collaborative Anatomy-Pathology (CAP) Projects (upcoming deadline for those who opted into participating—if this is not you, just ignore 😉)
* Wednesday, August 13—Word doc draft to faculty mentors is DUE!!!
* Have questions? Ask your faculty mentors specific to your project or contact Dr. Brenseke for general information about this program.
* You now have access to your 2025-2026 TrueLearn/COMBANK subscriptions for Level 1 and Step 1 Qbanks!
* During the first year, you had access to the “1st year” subscription and associated Qbanks. Now, with you transitioning into your 2nd year and less than a year away from COMLEX USA Level 1, you have access to both a Level 1 Qbank and Step 1 Qbank within TrueLearn.
* Make sure when you log into your account, you change the year to 2025-2026 and that you are in the “COMLEX Level 1” subscription by using the dropdown options on the “Dashboard” page. Once you do this, you will see your total questions completed to be “0” as you are in a new Qbank. (Remember, you all completed 1,000+ questions already—so you have a great start to your board prep!)
* You can toggle back and forth between the Level 1 and Step 1 banks, but remember, COMLEX Level 1 should always be your first priority. And, only the questions you complete in COMLEX Level 1 bank will count toward your required question counts.
* When is your next deadline and how many questions are due?
* 300 questions within the COMLEX Level 1 Qbank (your choice) by January 6, 2026
* Divided by 5 months (Aug.-Dec.), that equates to 60 questions per month
* Try searching for questions on the course content that you are learning to couple preparing for boards with feeling prepared for your integrated quizzes and exams.
* When you are learning, using tutor mode can be very helpful. As you progress and feel more confident in the material or what to work on pacing and testing your knowledge, switch to timed mode.
* Questions? Contact Dr. Hinkelman @ hinkelman at campbell.edu<mailto:hinkelman at campbell.edu>
* You also have additional resources available to you through Kaplan by logging into your student account at kaptest.com.
* Remember, there are “digital lecture notes”, videos, and built-in assessments (that are not board-style questions but good comprehension checks) on various topics to test your comprehension on specific topics.
* For the second year, try using “Level 1 Qbank Integrated Plan” to access resources related to the body systems such as “Cardiovascular” or “Respiratory”. If you need to find the foundational knowledge such as “Anatomy” or “Microbiology”, you can click “The Basic Sciences” tab.

Are you doing research? One of the best ways to showcase your research and scholarly work is through poster and/or oral presentations at conferences.
Below are some upcoming conferences to consider…interested? Work with your research faculty mentor(s) to put together a submission.
Conference Corner:
* Winter Family Physicians 2025 Conference sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Family Physicians (NCAFP)—December 4-7, 2025 in Asheville, NC
