Subject: Peer Learning Partner Tips for Conquering Exam Week
Greetings, Class of 2028,
This upcoming Tuesday, September 17 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom: Tips for Conquering Exam Week<https://campbell-edu.zoom.us/j/95205350674?pwd=KPDqtjifjQca38wqDd1BF7Huzdkl4z.1>, a panel of MS-2 Peer Learning Partners will be sharing tips and strategies for pacing yourself and mastering your last week of Block 1. After they share their tips and strategies, they will also be available to answer any questions you may have related to this topic and general study skills and test-taking strategies.
This session will not be recorded and will be student-only, optional attendance except for Dr. Hinkelman who will manage the Zoom and help facilitate discussion as needed. The real "stars" of the show will be the Peer Learning Partners sharing their lived wisdom and experience.
Wishing you all the BEST!
Dr. Hinkelman
A few quotes from our Peer Learning Partners that may be helpful reminders around this time...
* "The first few weeks can seem overwhelming, and that's ok. It's important to know that you're not alone in feeling overwhelmed, and it's imperative to recognize that CUSOM chose you for a reason and we're (MS-2s) here to support them too!"
* "Don't freak out by the amount material at first. It can feel so overwhelming, but constantly telling yourself you don't know if you can do it, makes it so much harder. So just believe that you are here for a reason and are capable."
* "At first, I often got frustrated when concepts would not click right away after a lecture. I realized eventually that it usually takes me 2-3 (sometimes more!) overviews of lecture materials before concepts click-and that's okay!"
* "One tip I would share with an incoming first year student is not to panic. Although I am still working on this myself, I think it is important to take a moment and not overwork yourself."
* "Be adaptable and take setbacks as a spring forward. Since the first weeks of medical school is completely different than undergraduate, as well as the expectations, it takes time to adapt to this new life."
