On behalf of Dr. Baright:

Good afternoon,

I hope you are able to celebrate the season with family and friends while you reflect on all the blessings that you are given and the opportunities that you have in being a part of a healthcare team. This is the first time that the Office of Clinical Affairs is asking you to reflect on where you would like to be after your time at CUSOM. All third-year students need to submit this survey by December 1. Taking the survey should only be about 10 minutes, while reflecting on the survey may take a lot longer. It asks you to rank your top 3 desired specialties for your first year of training. This is by no means the start of the Match process or any obligation. Likely, we will be asking again as third year starts to wind down because not everyone is set on their initial decisions. To aid in your responses, it should be a list from your most competitive to least competitive interests. I put the three tiers of competitiveness below. Of course, there is overlap meaning a highly competitive IM program may be more competitive than a least competitive GS program, but, generally speaking, GS is more competitive than IM. Please note that early match specialties (urology and ophthalmology) should only be in the #1 spot. This allows our team to start to organize so that we can provide support for your class moving forward. Please let me know if you have any questions. We will be reaching out in the New Year so that you are preparing for your away rotations, Residency Fair, and Residency Development Month.
