Dear CUSOM Students, Faculty, and Staff,

You may have seen the recent message the Provost's Office shared, but I wanted to personally share that I will be stepping down as Dean and Chief Academic Officer of the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine at the end of June.

Messages like this are never easy to write, but I want to take a moment to speak directly to our students. You have been the heart of my work and the most meaningful part of my time at Campbell. Watching your growth academically, clinically, and in the way you care for one another and embrace your responsibilities has been both humbling and inspiring. I have learned as much from you as I hope you have gained from this community. Whether I have seen you celebrating White Coat, leading service efforts, encouraging a peer, or preparing for exams, I have repeatedly been reminded why this school matters.

You are the reason CUSOM matters. The integrity, resilience, and compassion you bring into every setting, whether in the classroom, during rotations, or in the service of others, reflect the mission this school was built upon. It has been a privilege to walk part of this journey with you and witness your formation as physicians and individuals of deep character.

To our faculty and staff, thank you for creating a culture that values excellence, mentorship, and a true sense of belonging. Your consistent care for our students and one another makes this an extraordinary place to learn and work. I am especially grateful for the quiet ways you lead, support, and serve.

Although I will transition from this role in June, I remain confident in the future of CUSOM. This school has never been about one person. Its strength lies in the people who carry its mission forward with intention, purpose, and heart. I believe deeply in what this community stands for, and I am certain the same enduring values will guide its next chapter.

Over the weeks ahead, I will continue working closely with University leadership to support a thoughtful and smooth transition. I also plan to be present during the time I have remaining. Please do so if you ever want to stop by, share a conversation, or connect. Those moments are what I will carry with me most.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of this meaningful chapter in your lives. You have reminded me what it means to serve with compassion and lead with purpose. I leave with a full heart and deep appreciation.

With respect and gratitude,
Dr. K (Brian)
