The below email is sent on behalf of the Surgery Club.

Please join us on Tuesday, January 28th, at 7 PM for the inaugural session of our "Dinner and Learn" series.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Daniel Oh, a distinguished thoracic surgeon, Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, and Associate Medical Officer at Intuitive Surgical.
Dr. Oh specializes in general thoracic surgery, addressing both benign and malignant conditions of the lung, pleura, esophagus, mediastinum, and chest wall. He is a pioneer in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries, utilizing the da Vinci system to perform operations through small incisions, resulting in less tissue trauma, reduced pain, and shorter recovery times. Since 2011, approximately 90% of his major surgeries have been robotically assisted, totaling hundreds of cases.
Dr. Oh completed his surgical training at two internationally recognized institutions: the University of Southern California and Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. His extensive experience encompasses the full spectrum of thoracic surgery, including minimally invasive lung and esophageal procedures. Uniquely, he also performs advanced endoscopic and bronchoscopic procedures, advocating for a disease-specific rather than technology-specific approach.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Oh is actively involved in research with Intuitive Surgical, focusing on outcomes of robotic-assisted surgery, enhancing surgeon training technologies, and developing new procedures to improve patient outcomes. His work is widely published, and he is a sought-after international lecturer.
This virtual event offers a unique opportunity for medical students to gain insights from Dr. Oh's career journey, understand the role of a thoracic surgeon, learn about advancements in robotic surgery, and receive valuable advice for surgical training.
Mark your calendars and join us virtually on January 28th at 7 PM.
