Here is a message from Dr Lee about the upcoming training on January 14th & 15th.


Foundations for Success in Clinical Rotations, Residency, and Beyond
Hosted by Campbell University School of Medicine of Osteopathic Medicine

📅 Dates: January 14-15, 2025,  2:00-3:30 PM each day.
📍 Location: Lecture Halls 201 & 202
This 3 hour seminar split over two days is designed to help medical students navigate the challenges of clinical rotations, residency, and long-term professional growth. Through engaging sessions led by Barry Doublestein, DSL, and Walter Lee, MD MHS, you will explore key themes, including:
·  The realities of medical education and practice, including burnout, ethical challenges, and accountability.
·  Strategies for building a strong personal and professional foundation.
·  Virtuous success in medicine—aligning purpose, values, and career goals.
·  Essential skill sets for team interactions and leadership in medical settings.
·  Addressing personal concerns about your future in medicine, including questions about research, choosing a specialty, and career-life balance.
The seminar includes interactive discussions, Q&A opportunities, and reflective assignments to help you along in your professional development.

About the Seminar Facilitators:
Barry A. Doublestein, DSL (Doctor of Strategic Leadership), MA, FCCWS, President, Leadership Solutions and Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Leadership in the School of Business & Leadership at Regent University. He has spent the entirety of his vocational career in various undergraduate and post-graduate medical education organizations throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States. His expertise runs from student affairs, pre-doctoral clinical education, and new medical school development to post-graduate residency program development and accreditation oversight. He co-developed the Professionalism Intelligence Model to bring about a balance between technical expertise and the human-relations skills necessary to deliver care in the modern health care culture. He is an author of numerous articles and book chapters on the role of professionalism in medicine, an international speaker, and a consultant on healthcare innovation.

Walter T. Lee, MD, MHS,  Professor and Chief of Staff, Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences, Duke University Medical Center. He has a clinical focus on concerns of the head and neck and serves as the Co-Director of the Head and Neck Program in the Duke Cancer Institute. His academic focus is leadership and professional development as it relates to the health care team at all career levels. Dr. Lee co-developed a virtue-based model of professional development that has been shared nationally and internationally. His research interests are development of devices for cancer detection in low-resource settings. Specifically, Dr. Lee has global health research collaborations in Vietnam, Tanzania, and Duke – National University of Singapore.
