Good morning, MS-3 students!
As you probably remember from the past two years, CUSOM has partnered with "Student Loan Professor" (previously called 'Doctors Without Quarters') to bring an ANNUAL financial seminar to our students that is SPECIFIC to your year in medical school and is geared toward DO students.
Since you are currently an MS-3 student, you will have a virtual session this year, a (different) virtual session in year 4, and an EXIT COUNSELING (in person) before you graduate. ALL are MANDATORY accreditation requirements for CUSOM, and many students have found these seminars extremely helpful.
Your MS-3 "Financial Literacy" seminar will be on Tuesday, August 19th at 6:30pm ET via Zoom. ***Please open the attached flyer and click on the link to register.*** YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND.
We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to attend if your rotation schedule permits because ALL students need to understand their debt and how to best manage it! This session will be recorded, and the link will be sent out afterwards, but a benefit to attending live is being able to interact and ask our presenter questions.
Attached is a document with more detailed information, but here are some of the important topics that will be covered on August 19th:
* What are the different types of physician employment?
* What are the latest trends with physician employment?
* How is the structure of healthcare companies changing, and how will it impact me?
* What is a wRVU and why is it important?
* What is Fair Market Value and why should I care?
* What parts of an employment contract are negotiable?
* Are termination clauses still a thing?
* Should I hire an expert to review my contract?
* What economic questions should I be asking during my rotations?
Please feel free to reach out to Student Loan Professor if you have any questions (Help at StudentLoanProfessor.com<mailto:Help at StudentLoanProfessor.com>). Thanks!
Blessings,
Debi
