Good morning Class of 2027,
As Block 5 has come to a successful end, I want to share with you some changes to the delivery of both the FMP and PCC courses that are being piloted in Block 6, as well as call your attention to several other changes to the schedule you need to be aware of.
In response to student feedback, as well as faculty feedback, we are going to pilot delivering these courses live, but with a remote viewing option utilizing the Zoom platform. Attached to this note is Block 6 and you will notice there is an additional category listed on the cover page.
[cid:image003.png at 01DB189E.2AC75ED0]Live Session @ Remote Viewing
Per the course syllabi: These sessions are primarily FMP or PCC sessions and there is no attendance requirement. Students are encouraged to attend all lectures. Students will log in to these sessions remotely (Zoom platform). Note that students are expected to keep their cameras on during these sessions and there may be exercises embedded in these presentations to monitor student engagement.
This change in delivery will allow you to view these sessions live, at a location other than the lecture hall. It is our hope, based on student feedback, that this will increase class participation. These are important courses and attendance is strongly encouraged.
It is important to note that this delivery mode is not utilized for all the FMP/PCC sessions, there are still several sessions which will be delivered live in the lecture hall, there are several pre-recorded sessions, and there are live sessions in the lecture hall with a mandatory attendance requirement - these are all noted in the Block schedule with the previously used labeling convention.
This change to a remote delivery mode means that additional quizzes will now be administered remotely utilizing ExamMonitor.
In Block 6, the following are in place related to Quizzes:
[cid:image004.png at 01DB189E.2AC75ED0]Quizzes in Weeks 1 and 8 will be administered live in-person in the lecture hall prior to the Friday morning lectures.
NOTE: There are only 7 Quizzes total in Block 6. There is no Quiz in Week 7 due to Integrated Exam 2 and the Thanksgiving Holiday break that week. Quiz 7 in Week 8 will contain questions from Week 7 lectures.

Quizzes in Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be administered live, but remotely and monitored using ExamMonitor.
Some additional notes to be aware of in Block 6.
The MS-1 White Coat Ceremony is Friday October 18th and the invited speaker is Dr. John Gimpel, DO who is the President and CEO of the NBOME. He has requested time to meet and speak with your class as part of his day at CUSOM. To afford him this opportunity - he will meet with your class at 10:30a on Friday the 18th (NBOME Presentation) which has a mandatory attendance requirement. This is your opportunity to ask him any questions you may have about the NBOME and COMLEX exams. In order to schedule this session, we had to move the first PCC lecture (PCC 01) to Tuesday October 15th at 10:30am and the second PCC lecture (PPC 02) is after Quiz 1 and before the NBOME presentation on Friday October 15th. Both PCC 01 and PCC 02 will be given by faculty who are teaching at CUSOM for the first time, so I think it is a good idea if you attend these lectures to provide them a good first impression of CUSOM. They are important topics as you will soon be entering into your clinical training phase of your medical education.
I hope you all have a safe and restful break and come back ready to embrace Block 6 and I wish you all continued success.
Respectfully,
Dr. Terreberry
