[Cusom27] Biochemistry Board Review Sessions in Block 7

Good morning Class of 2027,

I hope this note finds you well, and that Block 6 is off to a good start.

As you start to develop your board review schedules, and earnestly review and prep for COMLEX-USA Level 1, I want to alert you to a program CUSOM has utilized since we began formal board reviews in 2015.  Dr. Shahir Rizk and his sister, Dr. Rania Rizk have come to CUSOM each year and provided excellent, focused Board review sessions and materials.  We have arranged to have them provide the same reviews again this year, and these sessions will be live in the building sessions.  There is no cost to you for these sessions and they are not mandatory, you can pick-and-choose which sessions to attend.

Some feedback from students who attended previous years' sessions:

"I thought the review sessions were very helpful to condense the important biochem knowledge we need to know for boards, and the study guide they provided will be a great tool to refer back to."

The sessions are optional and are listed as "BOARD REVIEW PROGRAM" in Week 6 on the Block 7 schedule.
Friday, February 7, Saturday, February 8, and Sunday, February 9.

The sessions will be Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning with the following topics to be covered:

Friday, February 7, 2025
(1p-4p) Pharmacology, Enzyme Kinetics and Neuropharmacology, Biostatistics

Saturday, February 8, 2025
(9a-noon) General Biochemistry, Lysosomal Storage Disorders, Carbohydrate/Lipid Metabolism and Disorders
(1p-5p) Nucleotide Metabolism and Disorders, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Genetic Disorders

Sunday, February 9, 2025
(9a-noon) Hemoglobin and Porphyrias, Amino Acid Metabolism and Disorders, Urea Cycle, Vitamins and their Deficiencies

I have provided the Drs. Rizk your email addresses and they will be sending you information about these sessions in a separate email, so keep an eye out for it, do not delete it and check your Spam Folder if need be.  They will provide you study materials and links to all the lectures too.  Again these sessions have been very well received in the past and they will be recorded and be available shortly after for all MS-2 students through their website until June 30, 2025.

I hope this information and these sessions are useful to you as you continue to refine your Board prep schedule and reviews.
