[Cusom27] Join the New RJOS Chapter at CUSOM: Support Women in Orthopedics!

Hello everyone,

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS) at CUSOM! RJOS is dedicated to supporting and uplifting women in orthopedic surgery, a field where we still face a significant gender gap. Did you know that women make up only about 6% of all orthopedic surgeons in the US? And female DOs make up less than 2% of all orthopedic surgery residents in 2023!

Joining CUSOM's RJOS chapter offers you the chance to be part of a strong, empowering community that is paving the way for the next generation of female orthopedic surgeons. Our chapter will host events (both at CUSOM and with our sister chapter at UNC), mentorship opportunities, and collaborative discussions to help build the confidence, knowledge, and network of everyone involved.

We welcome everyone to join, regardless of gender or year in school. While our chapter does not have dues, you must also be a part of CUSOM's ACOS Surgery Club! Additionally, if you would like access to RJOS opportunities on a national basis, you must be a paid RJOS national member. We plan to have our first meeting in the next couple of months with our advisor, Dr. Cecilia Belzarena, a pediatric AND oncology orthopedic surgeon at the University of Missouri!
