I wanted to make sure you are aware of current scholarship opportunities for your students through the American Osteopathic Foundation. The following opportunities are available for application through August 12, and students may apply directly on our application portal located here: https://aof.smapply.org/prog/application_portal/. I have provided a link to each program description for further information. Please feel free to pass along, or let me know if there is a more appropriate contact in your office to receive these emails.


  *   Burnett Osteopathic Student Researcher Grant was established to support an Osteopathic medical student for their true dedication to Osteopathic-oriented research. A bi-annual award in the amount of $5,000 will be presented to one individual who has demonstrated a commitment to the science of Osteopathic principles and practice, an active interest in clinical or basic science research pertaining to Osteopathic medicine and manipulative treatment, and outstanding academic achievement and noteworthy accomplishments in research.   *   Edward and Joanne Loniewski Merit Scholarship was established by Edward A. Loniewski, DO to combine his deep commitment to AOF with his love of the state of Michigan. This Fund provides an annual scholarship of $5,000 to one OMS III or OMS IV student who graduated from a Michigan high school in good academic standing, with demonstrated leadership skills, and articulated financial need.   *   Thomas A. Quinn, DO, Osteopathic Scholarship is an annual scholarship award in the amount of $5,000 that recognizes up to 2 Osteopathic medical students annually who are fervently committed to Osteopathic principles and practice and have maintained an above-average academic standing throughout their academic tenure. The scholarship will be distributed in two equal payments for two consecutive years provided the student remains in good academic standing.   *   Prairie State Scholarship was created through a collaborative partnership with the Illinois Osteopathic Medical Society to provide financial assistance to Osteopathic medical students who graduated from an Illinois high school.  An annual scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to one student who exemplifies the ideals of the Osteopathic profession and serves as an ambassador for the profession while completing their Osteopathic education. Finally, a reminder that the Sterling K. Welch, DO, Scholarship is open for nominations through October 31. Named in honor of Sterling Welch, DO, for his outstanding generosity to the AOF and his desire to support Osteopathic medical students and promote education, this grant was established to provide monetary aid to Osteopathic medical students. Each College/School of Osteopathic Medicine (COM/SOM) and branch campus may nominate one student who is in significant financial need to receive a $2,000 grant.
