Black History Month Student, Faculty, and Staff Spotlight

Black History Month is a month-long commemoration of history and achievement that takes place each February. During February, Black History Month further recognizes the contributions made by individuals of African American/ African descent to the United States' history, culture, and achievements.

In honor of Black History Month, the CUSOM Chapter of the Student National Medical Association will showcase pioneers who have inspired others and made significant contributions to medicine. Additionally, we will spotlight CUSOM Faculty, staff, and students of African American/ African descent to recognize the diverse culture of medicine and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at CUSOM.

If you are a CUSOM student, faculty, or staff who is an individual of African-American/ African descent and would like to have a rolling feature spotlight profile during Black History Month, please submit your name, graduation year (students only), a headshot/ a whitecoat picture, and a two to three sentence response to "Why I chose medicine" to amwalker0814 at email.campbell.edu<mailto:amwalker0814 at email.campbell.edu> by Friday, January 26th, 2024.

The CUSOM chapter of SNMA is whole-heartedly excited to recognize you and is here if you need any help connecting to resources for underrepresented medical students. Please let us know If you have any questions.

We look forward to hearing from you,

CUSOM Student National Medical Association
