Hello everyone,
The Student Doctor of the Year (SDOY) Committee would like to extend their sincere congratulations to CUSOM's 2024 SDOY, Maren Downing (Class of 2024)!
Throughout her time at CUSOM, Maren has dedicated herself to the field of osteopathic medicine. She has multiple publications, with a passion for biomedical research and improving access to OMT in rural settings. She served as the Executive Director of the CUCCC, and was instrumental in making research at the CUCCC more accessible to her fellow CUSOM students. She has served the local and global community in a variety of ways, including acting as a Refugee Volunteer to support refugees in their transition to the United States. Fellow medical students report admiration for Maren for her dedication to maintaining employment in research while engaging in community service and providing excellent care to patients throughout her clinical rotations. Maren is an outstanding student, researcher, and mentor in the CUSOM community, who truly embodies what it means to be an osteopath. We are confident she will thrive as an osteopathic physician.
She will now be considered for the National SDOY Award.
