[Cusom27] Recent Incident

Dear Students,



These emails are not easy to send and are often not necessary. However, we find ourselves in a situation that requires our collective attention.



We recently became aware of an incident that occurred in the CUSOM  parking lot on the evening of Monday, February 5th. In this unfortunate event, a vehicle sustained damage due to a collision with another vehicle. Sadly, the individual responsible did not report it, thus constituting a "hit and run misdemeanor" under North Carolina state law. The potential outcome for such actions may include legal penalties and more substantial consequences.



Following a review of surveillance footage, building cameras, and student swipe-in records, Campus Safety & Security has identified an individual involved in the incident. We strongly urge the responsible party to contact our Office of Student Affairs immediately.



As aspiring physicians, your commitment to unwavering professionalism (Honor Code) extends to your future careers and conduct within the CUSOM community. Section 6.7.3 of the Academic Bulletin underscores the core principle that every student deserves trust, and this trust is maintained to uphold a learning environment free from the harm caused by dishonesty. Your cooperation is pivotal in addressing this matter promptly, facilitating necessary repairs, and ensuring a resolution that aligns with the principles of our Honor Code.



We encourage the responsible party to contact Student Affairs directly for guidance and assistance in resolving this situation. Your prompt response is crucial in upholding the integrity of our academic community.
