This message is being sent out on behalf of the Assistant Director of Student Affairs.

The message below along with the power point was sent out to C/O 2026 and C/O 2027 on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. From what I have been told, a similar power point for previous years has been sent out before to previous classes by the Touch Coordinator at that time. The power point attached gives details on how to submit your TOUCH/VOLUNTEER hours. Please review the slide that gives the timeline for submission. Nidhi Kumar is working with me to make sure that I am aware of all details so this process will be smoother next year.
However, please note, it is the student’s responsibility to report these items in a timely manner. As the power point suggests, you should log your hours monthly. This will keep you from getting behind in submissions.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions.
Wendy

Here is all the important information regarding TOUCH hours that should be applicable for the 2023-2024 year (see attached Powerpoint).
How do I get started? --> Go to https://www.trackitforward.com/site/cusom and register using your Campbell email.
Common questions:
1. Why should I care about TOUCH hours? --> It goes into your MSPE, colloquially referred to as a 'Dean's Letter.' To see an example, click here, and use ctrl+f to search for the word "volunteer."<https://assets.campbell.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/22/2019/09/MSPE-Final-All-Combined-Document-05042021.pdf>
2. Why should I use it? --> It alleviates the clerical burden of logging multiple dates/times/hours of service that you experienced when applying to medical school on AMCAS and AACOMAS.
3. What counts as a TOUCH hour? --> Check the list on the PowerPoint.
4. What doesn't count as TOUCH hours? --> In short: time spent TAing at CUSOM, club leadership roles, conference attendance, SIM labs, research. Anything where CUSOM, Campbell University, or its students benefit does not count!
TOUCH Hour Award Milestones:
1. Participation: < 35 hrs.
2. Silver: 35 < x < 70
3. Gold: > 70
4. Platinum: The individual with the highest amount of hours at the institution
IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR CLUB LEADERS:
Students are able to claim donation drive participation for TOUCH hours, for a MAX total of 3 TOUCH hours for any given cycle. No more than 1 hour may be claimed per donation drive per student, regardless of contribution amount.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Sincerely,
Nidhi Kumar
