[Cusom26] Absence Policy for COMLEX Level 2 and Step 2

Good Afternoon Class of 2026,

I wanted to make you aware of the absence policy for COMLEX Level 2 and Step 2,  as many of you are currently scheduling these exams.  Please be aware that you are required to submit a Wufoo absence request for the day that you sit for COMLEX Level 2 and/or Step 2.  This request must be submitted ahead of time.  You will not be assessed an absence for COMLEX Level 2, as it is a curricular requirement; however, you will be assessed a discretionary day for taking Step 2, as it is not required by CUSOM.  I've copied this policy from our Academic Bulletin and provided it below:


6.6.4.7 Excused Absences for taking COMLEX-USA Level 2-CE



Students must provide notice to the Office of Clinical Affairs, their clinical faculty preceptor, and Regional Dean/DSME (if at a CUSOM training site) at least two (2) weeks in advance of their scheduled examination date.



Eligible students shall be granted permission to be absent for 1 (one) day from their clinical service in order to sit for the COMLEX-USA Level 2-CE examination and will not be required to make up the time missed.

If you are on an independent study elective on the date of your exam, you do not need to submit an absence request.  This is only if you are on a clinical rotation.  Failure to provide a Wufoo request may result in referral to the APPS committee.
