Hello Class of 2026,

I hope that you all are having a wonderful year so far! As you approach  your final rotations of 3rd year and prepare to enter into your last year of medical school, we are excited to send this email in anticipation of your upcoming OMED 870 course otherwise known as Residency Development Month!

Dr. Tolentino, Dr. Wendy Lee, and I look forward to being your course directors, and as we finalize our plans, we wanted to send some pertinent information for you to know. Please read this email in its entirety, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.


This year, Residency Development Month will begin on Tuesday May 28th ( the day after Memorial Day)  and conclude on Friday June 20th.  Please carefully review the information below as you plan for this course.  There are activities where you will need to sign up and meet specific deadlines, so please pay special attention to this. Also, please note that Residency Development Month is conducted via a hybrid model. You will have some courses that are live (in-person or virtual) or done asynchronously at your own pace. Unless otherwise noted, all activities are mandatory and must be attended to successfully complete the course. Please see below for additional details.



The outline of the course is as follows for Required Live In-Person Activities at CUSOM:

Summative PE Qualifying Exam (C3DO)

The PE-QE (C3DO) examination is a graduation requirement. All students must receive a passing score to be able to successfully complete the course and qualify for graduation.



Additional details regarding this examination are forthcoming.

Thursday, May 29th- Friday June 6th (see attached schedule for your date and time)



Dr. Wendy Lee (wrwood at campbell.edu<mailto:wrwood at campbell.edu>) will be handling any swaps in your scheduled day and time. To be considered, requests must occur prior to Monday, March 10th at 6pm EST. Requests will only be granted for extenuating circumstances.  All requests must be emailed to Dr. Lee. You must also copy the student with whom you are switching to confirm their agreement with the switch.

Interviewing Advanced Course

Wednesday May 28th

While optional, students are highly encouraged to attend one of the following sessions to assist them in preparing an impactful personal statement as they prepare to submit their residency applications.  This session will be offered twice on this day 10-12pm or 1-3pm

Personal Statement Writing Session

Wednesday May 28th

While optional, students are highly encouraged to attend one of the following sessions to assist them in preparing an impactful personal statement as they prepare to submit their residency applications.  This session will be offered twice on this day 9-10 am or 3-4pm.





The outline of the course is as follows for Required Live Virtual Activities via Zoom:

Mock Residency Interviews - Please select your preference for date and time by Monday March 10th at 6pm EST.  If you do not do this, you will be assigned a date and time.

June 9th-12th (30-minute each session)

After the sign-up period has ended, please contact Mrs. Allie Schofield ASAP (aschofield at campbell.edu<mailto:aschofield at campbell.edu>) if you need to change your scheduled date. She will do her best to accommodate your request.



Students who perform poorly on their Mock interviews will be required to attend a subsequent individual counseling session with your respective Clinical Chair to help ensure that you are prepared for your upcoming residency interviews.

OMM COMAT Exam – students must select one of the following dates to take the exam. Please select your preference for the date and time by Monday March 10th at 6pm EST.  If you do not do this, you will be assigned a date and time.

(You only need to select one date and time).

June 12th or June 17th  (Exam begins at 9am EST)



Be on the look out for a corresponding email from

Mrs. Ashley Valley within the next week to pick your preferred date.



After the sign-up period has ended, no changes to this date will be allowed for reasons other than extenuating circumstances.  If a change must occur, please contact Mrs. Valley (avalley at campbell.edu<mailto:avalley at campbell.edu>) who will be able to assist you further regarding this.









Clinical Chair Advising Session(s)-

Zoom links will be sent in a separate email for these sessions as we get closer to the start of Residency Development Month.



I have attached a schedule for Clinical Chair advising sessions scheduled throughout the course.  You must attend at least one session with the Clinical Chair of the specialty area to which you are planning to apply. If you are interested in attending an alternative session, you are free to do this as well.  You will be required to complete an attestation of attendance on Blackboard for credit of attendance.



The remainder of the course will be asynchronous learning (SDLs) which can be done at your own pace prior to the end of the month.  You will also be allotted time for preparation of your application(s) for residency programs.



Additionally, please make note of the days that you must be on campus to allow plenty of time to plan accordingly in your schedule. For those students who are traveling from an extended distance and who will qualify for temporary housing, you will be notified via a separate email within the next week or two by Mrs. Allie Schofield with additional information regarding this.
