Hi everyone!

We wanted to send out a little information about AAO’s Convocation this year in Colorado over spring break! We also wanted to see if anyone was interested in representing CUSOM at the A. Hollis Wolf Case Presentation Competition!

Some reasons to go to convo:

1. It’s great to go to any conferences and a national one is an amazing opportunity

2. They offer lectures and workshops in OMM that we will not be able to learn within the curriculum

3. You can find a mentor within medicine (not just OMM or primary care)

4. You get to meet students and faculty from all over the country

5. The hotel it’s being held at is absolutely gorgeous

Important Dates

Convo starts on March 15th (Wednesday of Spring Break) and ends March 19th, the Sunday before blocks 4/8 begin.

Early Registration ends on January 22nd! Registration price goes up $100 after that so we’re hoping to get everyone registered this week to save money! Being a national member will also save you $50 on registration and is a one time fee that lasts until graduation.

All the general information and registration can be found following this link

Event Description

The foundations of osteopathic medicine are critical to understand and master in order to become a successful physician. Palpatory skills and technique dexterity are vital to move from novice to expert in osteopathic principles and practice. We strive to provide opportunities to expand our core knowledge from physiologic basis to real-life applications. Our program ranges from basic diagnostic skills, understanding complex biomechanics and performing integrated multi-faceted techniques. In an ever evolving world of medicine, it is important to strengthen our foundations so we can embody the osteopathic tenets, the building blocks of our profession.

Please use this link for information on applying for financial assistance from AAO for the convocation fee: http://www.academyofosteopathy.org/nsn2023-application

SAAO is also working on organizing small scholarships with the help of Dr. Agnello! If you are interested in applying to receive this, please fill out the link below. All students receiving scholarship money to attend conferences during the school year must have at least a 3.0 GPA (as per the academic bulletin). Please do this ASAP so we can notify those receiving financial assistance before the registration fee goes up! https://forms.gle/a2tSVzgwtLASmPy99

A. Hollis Wolf

The goal of the A. Hollis Wolf (AHW) Case Presentation Competition is to demonstrate the application of osteopathic principles through a case study. Only one student per COM is allowed to compete. Participants have the chance to win individual awards, as well as bonus VIP points for your SAAO Chapter. This year the competition is organized by our own third year Urja Shah and we need someone to represent CUSOM! If you have done any cases relevant to OMM and would like to present PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP! The registration deadline is Jan 28th. Don’t worry if you’re not completely ready, the final presentation is not needed until Feb 28th.

Feel free to reach out to the leadership team with any questions or concerns.

Best,

Solomon Yanuck & Chloe Ruby
