Happy Friday!

You may have noticed on your Block schedule that you have a “Financial Literacy” seminar on Friday, December 2nd at 1:00pm in your lecture hall. You may have wondered what this is about?!

We are pleased to announce…

CUSOM has partnered with “Doctors Without Quarters” to bring an ANNUAL financial seminar to our students that is SPECIFIC to your year in medical school.

You will have ONE of these in-person sessions your MS-1 year, one in-person session your MS-2 year, a virtual session year 3, a virtual session year 4, and an EXIT COUNSELING before you graduate.

We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to attend because ALL students need to understand their debt and how to best manage it! The session will be recorded, and link sent out afterwards, but if you attend, you will be able to ask questions.

Here are some of the important topics that will be covered on December 2nd:



  *   What are the different types of funding options for medical school?
  *   What are the pros and cons of Federal vs. private loans?
  *   What are the critical things I should know about taking on six figure debt?
  *   What can I do to reduce my costs during medical school?
  *   Should I be creating or tracking a budget each month or semester?
  *   What are the best budgeting tools?
  *   Should I be using credit cards to cover some of my medical school expenses?
  *   How will President Biden’s student loan plan affect me?

Sounds like fun times! 😉
