Subject: SOMA Charity Miles Event


Hello!

The CUSOM SOMA chapter is looking to gauge interest for participation in the National SOMA "Charity Miles" competition. This competition is held across all Osteopathic medical schools with an active SOMA chapter and seeks to improve OMS physical activity while also benefiting each student's charity of choice (donations can also be made to one charity as a whole).

Briefly, all students at CUSOM are eligible to participate with the goal of logging as many biking or walking miles as possible through the "Charity Miles" app. 10 cents will be donated for each mile of outdoor biking and 25 cents will be donated for every mile of indoor/outdoor jogging/walking. Charities include (but are not limited to), Wounded Warrior Project, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, American Diabetes Association, and ASPCA. The winning chapter will be the team with the highest number of miles logged per person, by October 17th, 2022. Additional information regarding the event is attached below.
