For those of y’all that don’t know me, my name is Rachael Ard. I’m a second year and Communications Chair for the Neuro PT Student Interest Group here at Campbell. </p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I’m very pleased to announce that on July 5 from 12:15-12:45, we are hosting a question and answer session with my family friend who has ALS. His name is Gary Godfrey, and his wife Carol will be joining us as well. They are VERY excited to answer questions and spread more awareness of ALS. </p><p class=MsoNormal> </p><p class=MsoNormal>ALS, aka Lou Gehrig’s, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects both upper and lower motor neurons. Patients with ALS gradually lose control of voluntary muscle movements. </p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Gary communicates using his computer. He can answer questions by typing a response and having the computer read it out loud. I’ve attached a link to a google doc below so that everyone can add any questions they may have.
