<p class="MsoNormal">Hi everyone!  As we have mentioned since the beginning of the block, on May 5<sup>th</sup> you will have ortho physical exam checklists.  These will be similar to the system-specific physical exam checklists that you performed back in block
 one.  Detailed information includes:<o:p></o:p></p>

<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">Each student will be randomly assigned a patient history.  The student will then need to perform the appropriate exam in a 10 minute time period for that patient’s HPI.  The chief
 complaint may include any of the following: <b>c-spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, L-spine, hip, knee, foot/ankle.<o:p></o:p></b></li></ul>

<p class="MsoNormal">For the sample checklist attached, the following history would be given:<o:p></o:p></p>

<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo2"><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">Patient is a 45 y/o right hand dominant male who presents with right shoulder pain for the past 2 weeks.  He denies any history
 of injury to his shoulder and points to the superior/lateral aspect of the shoulder as the area of pain.  Reaching overhead makes his symptoms worse.  He denies any pain, numbness, or tingling radiating down his right arm.

<p class="MsoNormal">From this history, you should know to do a shoulder physical exam, including special tests for rotator cuff and impingement syndrome (see checklist attached).  Verbalizing specifically what you are inspecting for as well as what you are
 palpating over will be very important in order for your evaluator to give you points for these items.
