Hello PA Program Directors!

I wanted to make you aware of an exciting opportunity for PA students in North Carolina- the Clinician Innovation Initiative! On  September 23rd and 24th, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center will be holding a virtual healthcare innovation event for current and future clinicians in collaboration with 11 major North Carolina health systems<https://www.ncbiotech.org/events/accelerating-health-care-innovation-north-carolina-charting-course> (specs below and agenda at this link). Their goal is to lay the foundational knowledge necessary for current and future healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, PAs/NPs, occupational and physical therapy/other allied health) to enter the world of innovation/entrepreneurship and introduce them to resources that can support these efforts.

The NCBC has been awarded a small grant from NCIDEA to support a limited number of complimentary registrations for students at health sciences education programs who have an interest in learning about health care innovation/entrepreneurship (grant specifies that these must be students). To this end, they would like to offer complimentary registrations to a maximum of 3 students enrolled in each North Carolina Physician Assistant education program.

Note that the event is virtual and all sessions will be recorded for later viewing for those unable to attend some or all of the event. Once they register students they will receive a registration confirmation email in the next few weeks.

Keynotes:            Day 1- Dr. William Cohn, VP, Johnson & Johnson
                              Day 2: Dr. Hassan Tetteh, Joint Mission Chief, DoD Artificial Intelligence Center and surgeon
Topic: This virtual event puts an emphasis on action, connecting attendees with the people, insights, and strategies needed to systematically tackle the innovation process from ideation through execution. Questions to be addressed include:
*     How do I identify significant unmet needs in health care?
*     How do I translate a concept into a new product?
*     How do I implement, integrate, and commercialize new technology?
*     What funding mechanisms and other resources are available to support my innovation endeavors?
*     Should I start a company around my new technology?
